Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 lb Italian turkey sausage
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- dash of pepper…or a few red hot pepper flakes
- 1 28 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 1 6 oz can tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat olive oil. Add onions and garlic and cook for about 4 minutes or until onions have softened. Remove to slow cooker. In same skillet, heat ground turkey and turkey sausage. Stir in basil, parsley, thyme and salt. Cook until turkey is crumbled and no longer pink. Add meat to onions in slow cooker. To the slow cooker, add canned ingredients, vinegar and sugar. Stir. Heat on high for 3 ½ hours.
